A native of Durham, North Carolina, Patrick Cheatham is a dedicated educator with a passion for student success. He is a proud graduate of Hampton University and holds a Master’s degree in Special Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as a Master’s in Educational Administration from Concordia University.
With over 16 years of service in Richmond Public Schools, Mr. Cheatham began his career as a Special Education teacher at Fairfield Court Elementary. He later served as a Special Education teacher and Dean of Students at Armstrong High School before transitioning to the role of Assistant Principal at John Marshall High School.
As Principal of Richmond Success Academy, Mr. Cheatham is committed to educating the whole student by fostering strong relationships and cultivating a positive school culture and climate. His leadership is guided by the belief that every student deserves a supportive and enriching educational experience that prepares them for success beyond the classroom.
Dr. Melissa Wyche, Assistant Principal

Dr. Melissa Wyche brings over 20 years of experience in public education to Richmond Success Academy. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and her Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision from THEE Virginia State University. Dr. Wyche has served as an English Teacher, Instructional Coach, Dean of Students, and Elementary, Middle, and High School Assistant Principal. Her mission is to empower students with skills to become thriving learners, thinkers, scholars, and successful citizens.
