Academics
Richmond Success Academy RSA) focuses on students, teachers, and schools in its efforts to achieve both short-term and long-term educational and social goals. We aim to fulfill our benchmarks by providing a more personalized learning experience compared to traditional schools. Our approach includes smaller class sizes, unique curricula, and innovative teaching methods.
Collaborative Fridays:
Collaborative Fridays is a socio-emotional learning initiative developed by middle school teachers Ms. Helen Carrington, who teaches History and Civics, and Dr. Marla Crawford, who teaches Science. This program equips RSA middle school students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to understand and manage their emotions effectively.
Students participate in interactive lessons and activities that encourage collaboration and are aligned with one of CASEL's five areas of Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL): self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness.
Student Needs:
We emphasize holistic development by integrating emotional and social learning with academic instruction. We also address the diverse needs of gifted students, those with special needs, and learners who may have fallen behind academically.
Outcomes:
Our goal is to ensure that students at Richmond Success Academy are less likely to drop out of school and more likely to pursue higher education, whether at college or a technical school.
